Capcom has launched a demo for Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment in its action role-playing series. Released over a year and a half after the game's initial debut on February 28, 2025, the Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo allows players to sample the game's early content.

The demo permits players to create their Hunter and Palico companions and experience the game from its beginning up to "Chapter 1–3: To the Forest," which includes the fifth mission. This provides several hours of gameplay for prospective players to familiarize themselves with the world and mechanics before committing to a purchase. Any progress made in the demo can be carried over to the full game.

However, the demo notably omits several key features. Photo mode is unavailable, preventing players from capturing and posing their characters. More significantly, all online functionalities have been excluded, meaning cooperative multiplayer quests cannot be experienced in the trial. This limits the opportunity for players to get a full understanding of the franchise's signature cooperative gameplay loop.

The demo's release coincides with a recent streamlining of Monster Hunter Wilds' product offerings. The base game is now priced at $39.99, down from its original price. A Gold Edition, bundling several DLC and cosmetic add-ons, is available for $79.99. Capcom also confirmed that a paid expansion, Ascendance, is planned for a 2027 release.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is also in development.
