Capcom will implement a permanent price reduction for Monster Hunter Wilds, with the change set to take effect on August 4, 2026. This comes less than 18 months after the game's initial launch. The current MSRP for the base game stands at $70.
Alongside the price cut, three existing downloadable content bundles are being retired: the Deluxe Edition, Premium Deluxe Edition, and Cosmetic DLC Pass. These will be replaced by new bundle configurations. The Gold Edition will now include the base game and the Cosmetic DLC Collection. The Cosmetic DLC Collection itself will encompass all content from the first four DLC packs, the Festival Accord DLC, and the Deluxe Pack, alongside an additional Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack. This new Extras pack will feature select paid cosmetic DLC that were previously only available as standalone purchases.
This consolidation of DLC aims to streamline the available microtransaction options. With nearly 200 extra cosmetic items available on Steam, the new bundles appear designed to bundle a significant portion of these into a more comprehensive package, particularly for players who may have missed out on earlier offerings or wish to acquire a wider range of cosmetic items.
While Capcom has not specified the exact amount of the price reduction, a comparison can be drawn to Dragon's Dogma 2, another Capcom title that received a permanent price cut from $70 to $40. However, Dragon's Dogma 2 has been available for nearly a year longer than Monster Hunter Wilds, suggesting that the reduction for Monster Hunter Wilds may be less substantial. Analysts speculate a potential price range between $50 and $60.
The price adjustment and DLC restructuring are being seen as a positive move for consumers. Monster Hunter Wilds, despite achieving strong launch concurrent player numbers, has not maintained the same level of critical or player engagement as its predecessors, such as Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Rise, which are often available at a lower price point than Wilds' current MSRP.
