Developers Cold Symmetry have released a hotfix for Mortal Shell 2, addressing several issues including a bug that enabled players to inadvertently steal enemy weapons during ripostes. This fix comes as discussions around the game's difficulty have emerged following its early access launch.
Players have noted an increase in challenge since the beta playtest, a sentiment the developers acknowledged. While some endgame bosses are indeed tougher in the current build, the early game experience appears largely unchanged. A balancing patch is scheduled for release on August 20th, coinciding with the game's full public launch.
The hotfix also resolves various crash, stability, and performance problems, including a UI lock-up issue encountered when equipping the Slayer Seal. This item functions as an in-game "easy mode," allowing players to deal Break damage with projectile weapons, which contributes to filling an enemy's Break bar. When this bar is depleted, enemies become vulnerable to a riposte.
The weapon-stealing bug, discovered through player reports on platforms like Reddit, allowed some players to unintentionally equip powerful enemy armaments. While the developers have corrected this, the novelty of the bug has spurred discussion about potential future game mechanics, such as a universal weapon-stealing system or a campaign modifier that forces players to adapt to the weaponry of recently defeated foes.
