Mortal Shell 2: Harros' Role After the Prologue

Players can only control the warrior Harros for a brief period during the Prologue of Mortal Shell 2. While he is a playable character in this opening segment, events transpire that prevent his continued use later in the campaign.

Harros awakens in a clearing filled with worshippers of the UnderMether, where the player acquires early gear, including the Iconoclast sword, the Naylshotte sidearm, and the Untarnished Seal. During the Prologue, players can utilize Harros' signature Stone Stun ability, which petrifies nearby enemies. Attacking petrified foes deals break damage rather than depleting their health, making them more susceptible to stuns.

However, this playable segment concludes during a boss encounter with the Tar Golem. A cutscene depicts the Tar Golem incapacitating Harros, petrifying him and effectively ending his playable role in the game. This event is presented as permanent, with Harros unable to be revived or cured.

Despite the loss of Harros himself, his core defensive mechanic lives on. Interacting with his petrified body yields Vatra's Seal, an accessory that grants access to the Harden mechanic. This ability functions similarly to Stone Stun: activating it turns the character to stone, nullifying the first incoming attack and dealing break damage if timed correctly. Harden can also be activated mid-animation, seamlessly connecting attacks after the effect expires.

Players seeking to continue their journey in Mortal Shell 2 will need to inhabit other available Shells, as Harros' story as a playable character concludes after the Prologue due to the events with the Tar Golem.
