Motorsport Manager 2 Set to Launch on Steam in 2027

Playsport Games has announced Motorsport Manager 2, the sequel to their 2016 racing management simulation, is scheduled to release on Steam in 2027. The upcoming title aims to build upon its predecessor's foundation by introducing more dynamic race strategies and expanding the off-track narrative elements.

Motorsport Manager 2 will place players back in the role of a team boss, overseeing a custom team in a fictional single-seater, GT, or endurance racing championship. The core gameplay loop involves recruiting personnel and sponsors, refining car parts and setups, and making critical strategic decisions during races to achieve podium finishes.

A primary focus for the sequel is enhancing the in-race experience to be more challenging and variable. According to Playsport Games, teams will exhibit more intelligent reactions to on-track events, adapting strategies in response to changing conditions, pit stops, rival actions, and emerging opportunities. A new weather simulation is also planned, designed to introduce more varied and dramatic race-day decision-making by allowing conditions to fluctuate across different sections of a circuit rather than applying uniformly to the entire track at once.

The developers have also stated that off-track relationships and rivalries have been expanded. Playsport Games highlighted that the freedom from directly emulating real-world racing series allows them to draw inspiration from various eras, disciplines, and formats to craft a motorsport world that feels authentic and full of potential. Project lead Matt Hanlon noted that "Real-world motorsport is an inspiration, not a limitation." This freedom was a key strength of the original Motorsport Manager, enabling modders to recreate real-world seasons and grids. A detailed look at Motorsport Manager 2 in action is expected in autumn.
