DC Studios is reportedly developing a television series centered on the superhero Mr. Terrific. The project is in its early stages, with Allan Heinberg, who served as showrunner for Netflix's The Sandman, attached as a writer. Heinberg also has previous writing experience on the live-action superhero film Wonder Woman.
The character, a genius inventor and crime-fighter, was most recently portrayed by Edi Gathegi in the DC Universe's initial theatrical release, Superman. While James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, directed that film, his specific involvement with the Mr. Terrific series is currently unconfirmed. Gathegi is expected to reprise his role as Mr. Terrific in the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow.
Details regarding the plot, full cast, and release date for the Mr. Terrific series remain scarce. This development comes as DC Studios continues to build out its slate of projects, including the upcoming Green Lantern series Lanterns and the Batman spin-off Clayface. Despite a lukewarm reception and disappointing box office performance for Supergirl, the studio appears committed to its ongoing DC Universe narrative.
