Iman Vellani, the actor behind Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, is set to host a new official podcast that will count down to the release of Avengers: Doomsday. The series, titled "Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast," will debut its first episode next week on August 27.
Vellani will co-host the podcast with podcaster Frank Alvarez. The five-episode series will be available on Disney+ and Marvel's YouTube channel, with audio-only versions accessible through standard podcast platforms. While the podcast's title suggests a focus on the upcoming Avengers film, its content will primarily involve recapping and discussing significant moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. The final episode is scheduled to cover Avengers: Endgame and will coincide with the theatrical re-release of that film.
Fans have expressed considerable anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday, with ticket pre-sales reportedly outpacing those for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Despite Vellani's confirmed role as podcast host, her appearance in Avengers: Doomsday has not been officially announced, though many fans expect her to feature in the film, potentially in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel has also released a watchlist of 15 movies and TV shows recommended for viewers to watch before Avengers: Doomsday premieres on December 18. This effort aims to prepare audiences for the film, which is rumored to significantly reset the MCU.
