Naruto Franchise Announces New Manga, Crossover Anime, and More Ahead of 2029

Several new projects for the Naruto franchise were announced at New York Comic Con as part of an initiative dubbed Project Rasengan, which outlines releases through 2029. The roadmap includes a crossover anime with the martial arts series Ninku, a new manga from creator Masashi Kishimoto, and a worldwide launch for a previously China-exclusive mobile game.

New Naruto Projects Revealed

The crossover anime, titled Naruto x Ninku, is in production and is expected around 2027, though its teaser trailer does not confirm a specific release date. Ninku, the series that inspired Kishimoto, is featured in this limited series.

Also slated for 2027 are the Naruto Card Game and a global release of Naruto Mobile. The card game will see a worldwide launch in June 2027, with in-store demos scheduled for February and March of the same year. Naruto Mobile, available in China since 2016, will receive its international debut, with more details to be shared at Jump Festa 2027. Bandai Namco has not yet committed to a precise release window for the mobile game.

A live-action Naruto movie is also confirmed to be in development. Director Destin Daniel Cretton shared a message during the panel, emphasizing Naruto's character as someone who perseveres despite underestimation. Cretton stated, "What I've always loved about Naruto is that he's the character who might normally get sidelined as a sidekick. He's excitable, he tries too hard, and people underestimate him. But he has an incredible heart. No matter how many times he fails or gets knocked down, he never stops believing in himself or fighting for the people he loves. That spirit is at the heart of the story we're telling."

Kishimoto's New Manga and Other Announcements

Masashi Kishimoto is set to release a new manga titled Naruto: Shadow Rising. Further details about this manga are scarce, with more information expected at Jump Festa 2027.

Other announcements from the New York Comic Con panel include the upcoming Naruto Shippuden Symphonic Experience in the United States and new franchise merchandise. The franchise, which has seen a quieter period in recent years, is poised for a significant resurgence with Project Rasengan promising at least eight new releases by the end of the decade.
