iRacing has announced that NASCAR 26 will launch on September 18, 2026, with an early access period beginning three days prior for purchasers of the Gold Edition. This sequel builds upon the foundation laid by last year's NASCAR 25.
Producer Matt Lewis and creative director Mike DeVault discussed several key enhancements in a recent developer diary. A significant addition is the implementation of dynamic track surfaces that will rubber in over the course of a race weekend. This feature is designed to open up new strategic possibilities for players by creating evolving racing lines.
The development team has also addressed player feedback regarding issues present in NASCAR 25. Adjustments have been made to track limit penalties on road courses to reduce unrealistic punishments. Furthermore, AI opponents will now be capable of retiring from races, a feature that was absent in the previous title, even after significant in-game incidents.
Lewis described these quality-of-life improvements as responsive to community requests, aiming to enhance the overall player experience. "These quality of life improvements, right?" Lewis stated. "Which are minor asks in the grand scheme of things, but just again showing that we’re listening to the community."
NASCAR 26 will also introduce a standalone 10-round Chase mode. This mode will allow players to custom-set the field of AI competitors they wish to race against for the final ten races of a season. "You go in, you set up the field that you want to compete against and you just run those last 10 races," Lewis explained. "So that’s going to be an awesome feature as well."
New gameplay footage for NASCAR 26 is expected to be released next week.
