Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann has confirmed that two new projects set within the universe of The Last of Us are in their "very early stages" of development. The announcement came as part of a message celebrating The Last of Us Day 2026.
Druckmann stated that the studio has considered telling more stories in The Last of Us world since the documentary "Grounded 2." He added that while details are scarce, both new projects will expand the established canon beyond the events of The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2. Druckmann emphasized that the studio would only return to the franchise if they had something "meaningful to say," and believes these stories are worth telling, though he did not specify if these projects would be games, television series, films, or other media.
Elsewhere, Druckmann provided an update on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog's new intellectual property. The game, which was first revealed in 2024 and aims to "show off a different side of Naughty Dog," will not be fully unveiled until 2027. "We need to cook for just a little bit longer," Druckmann explained, setting expectations for a period of silence regarding the title throughout the rest of the current year.
In 2027, Naughty Dog plans to fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and offer a detailed look at the sci-fi adventure starring protagonist Jordan. Druckmann acknowledged the long wait since the last update and expressed gratitude for the players' continued support, assuring them that the team is working hard to create something that justifies their patience. New concept art depicting Jordan with her sword amidst a forest overtaken by red alien matter was shared to tide fans over until the full reveal.
