Naughty Dog is reportedly planning a return to its acclaimed Uncharted series with a new, original entry. The project is said to be led by veteran developer Shaun Escayag, who rejoined the studio in 2021.
While details remain scarce, reports suggest that the upcoming game will not be a remake but a fresh installment in the franchise. The capacity in which series protagonist Nathan Drake might appear is currently unclear, and the game is described as being in its early concept phase, meaning plans could still change.
Speculation surrounding a new Uncharted title has been fueled by industry leaker NateTheHate, who noted Escayag's involvement in a project distinct from The Last of Us. Further adding to the rumors, Escayag previously shared an image of an old canon at Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago on Instagram, a location that has previously featured in the series.
Fans may have a considerable wait ahead, as Naughty Dog has indicated that its next major reveal, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is not expected until 2027. Given the studio's development pace, a new Uncharted game could potentially emerge in the first half of the PlayStation 6 console generation.
