Naughty Dog is keeping its upcoming science-fiction action game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, out of the spotlight for the rest of 2026. Studio head Neil Druckmann announced during the developer's annual "Outbreak Day" celebration that the game will receive its full reveal in 2027.
Druckmann stated in a Naughty Dog blog post that the team is currently deeply focused on the project, describing it as potentially Naughty Dog's most ambitious endeavor yet. While acknowledging the long wait since the game's initial reveal during The Game Awards nearly two years ago, he expressed excitement about the progress being made. "There's an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we're stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory," Druckmann wrote. "But... we need to cook for just a little bit longer."
Fans hoping for new glimpses of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet this year will need to exercise patience. Druckmann explicitly set expectations, noting that Naughty Dog will "be quiet for the rest of this year." He assured the community that in 2027, the studio will "fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan's wild sci-fi adventure."
Druckmann also mentioned that Naughty Dog is working on two other projects that will expand the canon of The Last of Us series beyond its existing game installments. The studio recognizes the lengthy period without substantial updates on Intergalactic and appreciates the continued support from its fanbase, with Druckmann emphasizing that the team is working diligently to create a game that justifies the wait. A new piece of concept art for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was included in the blog post.
In the interim, Naughty Dog is also involved with the HBO television adaptation of its flagship series, The Last of Us, with casting news for season three recently announced.
