Magic Design Studios, the team behind the 2022 title Have a Nice Death, has announced its new game, Nautus: Echoes from Below. This project is a dual-experience exploration game where players will engage with a comfortable island surface and a more mysterious underwater world via an upgradeable and customizable submarine. Nautus: Echoes from Below is slated for a PC release and will support solo play as well as four-player co-op.
The game's premise involves the player character responding to an unusual radio message from their uncle. Upon arriving at the N.A.U.T.U.S. research station, they discover the local scientists have lost their memories and developed a fear of the ocean. The player must then pilot a submarine into the deep to confront mutated creatures, recover artifact stones to restore memories, and uncover the truth behind the events.
Gameplay will include crafting, resource management, exploration, submarine piloting, building and customizing an outpost, and interacting with island inhabitants. Players will also search for ancient relics and their missing uncle. Nautus: Echoes from Below is targeting a Steam Early Access launch in 2027. Interested players can wishlist the game on Steam.
