NBA 2K27 is set to launch on September 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Players who purchase the Deluxe or Ultra editions will gain early access to the game starting August 28.
This year's installment features three distinct cover athletes. Victor Wembanyama, center for the San Antonio Spurs and the NBA's first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, will be featured on the Standard Edition. Caitlin Clark, guard for the Indiana Fever and the 2024 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year, will grace the cover of the Deluxe Edition. Rounding out the covers is Derrick Rose, point guard for the Chicago Bulls, a three-time NBA All-Star, and the youngest MVP in NBA history, who will be on the Ultra Edition.
The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99. The Deluxe Edition and Ultra Edition will both cost $99.99 and $149.99, respectively, and include early access. The Ultra Edition is described as a "limited-time" offering, available until September 6.
Alongside the cover athlete announcements, 2K Sports has also released a roadmap detailing the lead-up to NBA 2K27's launch. Key dates include a gameplay trailer on July 28, the reveal of the 2K Beats soundtrack on August 10, and an apparel brand spotlight on August 13. An August 18 date is also marked on the roadmap with instructions to "tune in."
Each cover athlete expressed their enthusiasm for their respective appearances. Victor Wembanyama highlighted the game's role in continuous basketball immersion, while Caitlin Clark emphasized the significance of being the first WNBA player on a global cover, bringing greater visibility to women's basketball. Derrick Rose reflected on his past cover appearance for NBA 2K13 and sees his NBA 2K27 cover as an opportunity to inspire aspiring athletes.
NBA 2K27 is scheduled for a full release on September 4 across all announced platforms.
