Nearly $1 Million in Trading Cards Stolen from FedEx Truck Outside PSA Headquarters

Police in Santa Ana, California, have confirmed that a FedEx truck carrying collectible trading cards was burglarized on October 13, with the stolen items estimated to be worth over $963,000. The truck was reportedly left by the driver outside PSA's Santa Ana headquarters for between 60 and 90 minutes, during which time thieves broke the lock and made off with the contents.

Law enforcement officials stated that two pallets containing approximately 100 packages and a third pallet with around 50 packages were taken. The first two pallets alone account for the estimated $963,000 loss, and the value of the third pallet has yet to be determined, suggesting the total could exceed $1 million. The stolen items include sports cards and Pokémon cards.

The incident gained significant attention after collectors reported receiving emails from PSA indicating their graded cards had been lost. A collector known as SKY-B stated that over $100,000 worth of his cards, which he had personally delivered to PSA for grading, were among the stolen items. PSA has since issued a statement promising to compensate affected customers based on the fair market value up to the Maximum Insured Value they selected for each item. The company has also deactivated the certificates for the stolen cards and is cooperating with FedEx and law enforcement.

FedEx has stated it is working with authorities on the investigation, emphasizing that the security of customer shipments is a priority. The Santa Ana Police Department is continuing its investigation and encourages anyone with information to come forward. The exact value of the stolen goods is still pending further investigation.
