Developer Larian has shared a series of statistics detailing player habits in Baldur's Gate 3 since its release, with some choices proving particularly unusual. Nearly 10,000 players, specifically 9,008, have engaged with the game using a 9:16 aspect ratio, commonly known as portrait mode.

Another 114 players opted for a 1:1 aspect ratio, resulting in a perfect square display. The motivations behind these non-standard display choices are speculative, ranging from ingrained mobile usage habits to the possibility of a secondary monitor being pre-set in portrait orientation. The 1:1 players might be engaging with the game for a retro aesthetic, akin to playing on older computer monitors.

Beyond aspect ratios, the data reveals that approximately 500 million mods have been downloaded by players. The non-player character Zevlor has died 12.31 million times, marking him as the most frequently deceased story NPC. Interestingly, more players not utilizing the "Dark Urge" origin have killed the NPC Alfira than those who are playing as the Dark Urge.

Furthermore, fewer than one percent of players have successfully accumulated all 180,000 in-game gold within a single playthrough. A small number of players have also made over 1,400 quicksaves during a single session, prompting a humorous inquiry from Larian about their well-being.
