Netflix and Until Dawn Creators Launch Interactive Horror Game The Conjuring: Unspoken

Netflix is expanding its interactive entertainment offerings with The Conjuring: Unspoken, a new horror game developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn. The game is set to launch on October 13, positioning it as a timely release for the Halloween season.

The Conjuring franchise, which began with the 2013 film of the same name, has grown into an extensive horror universe comprising nine movies, including spin-offs. While the main narrative featuring Ed and Lorraine Warren concluded with Last Rites in 2025, the universe is set to continue with the prequel The Conjuring: First Communion in 2027. This new game offers fans an opportunity to experience the horror franchise in an interactive format.

Netflix collaborated with Supermassive Games, renowned for its work on narrative-driven games where player choices impact the story's outcome. The Conjuring: Unspoken casts players as Francesca Noakes, a demonologist investigating supernatural occurrences at the Red Lion Inn in England. A key feature of the game involves using a mobile phone as a ghost-hunting tool, functioning as an electromagnetic reader, infrared camera, and spirit box. The objective is to uncover and capture the spirits plaguing the Cooper family.

While the game is set within The Conjuring universe, the initial trailer does not feature Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their past investigations have included locations in England, as seen in The Conjuring 2, leaving open the possibility of their appearance. However, the game could also function as a standalone story connected to the broader franchise, similar to spin-offs like The Nun and Annabelle.

The Conjuring: Unspoken is currently exclusive to Netflix, with no current plans for release on consoles or PC. Access to the game requires a Netflix subscription, and it is expected to appeal to fans of interactive titles like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unhinged.
