EverBoard has unveiled a new 21.5-inch tablet called the EverVibe Game Creator, designed to leverage generative AI to produce original tabletop games from simple text descriptions. The device, priced at $499.99, will launch exclusively through Best Buy this holiday season and aims to offer families more than just digital versions of classic board games.
How EverBoard's AI Game Creator Works
The EverVibe Game Creator utilizes generative AI to create playable game experiences that blend elements of board and mobile games. Users can input descriptions using text or voice, or select from menus for themes, rules, and art styles. The AI then prompts the user with setup questions regarding player count, seating arrangements, and control schemes.
Players can refine generated games with simple instructions like "make it faster" or "add power-ups." Each revision is saved, allowing users to revert to previous versions. The system supports custom rules, turn structures, scoring, and objectives, enabling users to customize everything from the board and characters to the artwork and sound.
To facilitate shared play on the touchscreen, EverBoard includes four privacy films. These allow players to slide panels over their sections of the screen, obscuring their cards and tiles from opponents across the table while remaining visible to the player directly in front. Games can eventually be published to a community library, subject to adult approval and EverBoard's moderation.
Subscription and Content Safeguards
The EverVibe platform uses generative AI models from established commercial providers, with prompts routed through EverBoard's cloud service. The company states that it will not train AI models using player prompts or creations, and its contracts will prohibit its providers from doing so. Any prompts that violate content rules are declined.
An adult must configure the device and can control access to the EverVibe features. EverBoard plans to publish a privacy notice and an adult-managed consent process before the product ships.
Usage of the EverVibe Game Creator requires a subscription to EverPass. The base EverPass includes one month of access, with subsequent subscriptions costing $29 for three months or $99 annually. This tier provides access to the full game library and allows for five Game Creator creations per month. An upgraded EverPass Premium, priced at an additional $50 per year, increases this to 25 quick games or five enhanced games per month.
Without an active subscription, users can access a starter collection of 10 games. The full library at launch is expected to exceed 50 games, with monthly additions. Confirmed licensed Hasbro games include Monopoly, Connect 4, Chutes and Ladders, and Scrabble, alongside other original experiences.
Digital Game Tables in Context
EverBoard is not the first company to offer a large touchscreen for tabletop gaming. Arcade1Up's Infinity Game Table, reviewed in 2021, offered a similar concept. More recently, the Board device focused on bespoke physical components for its 24-inch display.
The EverBoard EverVibe combines features of previous digital game tables, offering a portable design with a built-in battery. Its key differentiator is the AI-powered game creation tool, which sets it apart from earlier iterations that relied solely on licensed or pre-made digital titles. Whether the AI's ability to generate engaging games will make EverBoard a lasting product remains to be seen.
