A follow-up to Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant is reportedly in the works with Prisoners writer Aaron Guzikowski.

The continuation of the sci-fi horror franchise has started to gain momentum, with Scott involved as a producer. Guzikowski, who previously collaborated with Scott on HBO's Raised by Wolves, is set to write the script.

While much of the plot remains under wraps, the new Alien film is not expected to be a direct sequel to Alien: Romulus. Instead, it is intended to share narrative ties with Scott's earlier films, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The current plan includes the presence of Michael Fassbender's android character, David, though the actor has not yet officially signed on.

No director has been selected for the project at this time. Scott and Scott Free's Michael Pruss are serving as producers. According to reports, Scott personally approached Guzikowski to initiate the development of this project, which he had announced in August.

Fans of Scott's work may be eager to see more of David the Android. Fassbender first portrayed the character in Prometheus in 2012 and reprised the role in the 2017 sequel, Covenant. The resolution of Scott's intended offshoot trilogy has been a subject of speculation for years.

Meanwhile, the status of a sequel to Alien: Romulus, which starred Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, remains uncertain. Scott had previously commented in August that he felt the first film was merely "OK" and that the franchise "needs some help," leading him to return to it. Although a proper follow-up was reported to be in development in late 2024, with Fede Alvarez attached to produce but not direct, further details have been scarce.
