A new quest mod for Fallout 4, titled "Double Feature," has been released, bringing together prominent modders and the voice talents of Wes Johnson, known for his roles as Sheogorath in The Elder Scrolls and various characters in Fallout. This mod is part of an annual charity initiative where modders create a substantial quest mod within days to raise funds for a chosen cause.

Last year's effort, "Transmission Zeta," focused on an alien-themed adventure. "Double Feature" shifts the narrative to Boston's civic archive, where players become embroiled in a conflict between two rival gang leaders, Sterling and Lorraine. These characters, described as eccentric, are vying for control over the archived belongings of a pre-war singer named Dottie Day. Players must choose which gang leader to assist in accessing a sealed wing of the archive containing Day's possessions.

The mod features contributions from modders involved in significant Fallout 4 projects such as Sim Settlements 2, the Commonwealth Story Expansion Project, and Concord Stories. Players can encounter a new companion named Billy Thunder and acquire a player home designed by modder Elianora, alongside new weapons and armor created by modders Neeher, Niero, and Captain-Ultima. A full list of contributors is available in the mod's description.

For those curious about the mod's content, YouTuber Gopher provided a livestreamed playthrough during the charity modathon. The fundraising aspect of this year's event, linked via the Tiltify page for Sim Settlements 2 lead Kinggath, has generated $5,065 for the US-based Alzheimer's Association as of this report.

To install and play "Double Feature," players need Fallout 4 updated to version 1.10.163.0 or later. The mod can be initiated by traveling to the Cambridge area near the C.I.T. ruins. Players will find a damaged Protectron near a raider camp; interacting with this robot will start the quest.

While "Double Feature" may not appeal to players who prefer a more somber post-apocalyptic experience, its developers are noted for their quality modding work, suggesting a potentially enjoyable experience for its participants.
