A new dedicated showcase for first-person shooter games, aptly named The FPS Games Show, is set to premiere next month. The pre-recorded event will stream exclusively on Twitch on Thursday, September 3, at 2 p.m. EDT. The showcase promises to deliver "news, gameplay, updates, and reveals" for 16 participating titles, all of which are freely involved in the presentation.
The initiative is spearheaded by Bulkhead, the studio behind the forthcoming Steam Early Access game Wardogs. Joe Brammer, CEO of Bulkhead, stated that the first-person shooter genre, a cornerstone of the gaming industry for over three decades with a significant player base, has historically been underserved by general gaming showcases that may only feature one or two FPS titles. He explained that the cost for a brief placement in a larger show can be prohibitively expensive, leading to the decision to create a platform focused solely on the genre. "The FPS Games Show aims to change that by bringing studios together to showcase their work, support one another and celebrate our collective love of the genre," Brammer said.
The 16 games confirmed to be featured are Rainbow Six Siege, Escape from Tarkov, Ready or Not, Stalzone, SCUM, Gray Zone Warfare, Wardogs, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Beautiful Light, Bellum Incursion, Red River, Road to Vostok, Sand: Raiders of Sophie, Bodycam, '83, and Terminal War.
In addition to the showcase itself, Steam will be supporting the event through a dedicated third-party platform featuring selected titles. This will include discounts, free demos, and free weekends for some of the showcased games, further incentivizing players to engage with the featured FPS titles.
