The Halo franchise continues to expand its literary universe with the upcoming release of "Halo: Parasite's Wake," a new novel by New York Times-bestselling author Tim Lebbon. Gallery Books will publish the title on October 20, marking the latest addition to the extensive collection of stories set in Bungie's science fiction universe. This novel follows a lineage of over 30 Halo novels and numerous games that have explored the adventures of Master Chief and the broader conflict with the alien alliance, the Covenant.
"Halo: Parasite's Wake" is set in the year 2552, a period of significant conflict following the Covenant's invasion of the planet Reach. The narrative centers on Staff Sergeant Marvin Mobuto and his disparate squad of convicts aboard the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. As they navigate the aftermath of the ship's escape and arrival at the titular ringworld, Halo, Mobuto must manage his volatile crew while defending against Covenant forces. The novel also hints at a more ominous threat lurking within the depths of the Halo underworld. Notably, this installment does not feature Master Chief John-117 as the central protagonist.
Lebbon, known for his work in dark fantasy, thrillers, and horror, including "The Silence," also has experience with novelizations of established media franchises such as Alien, Hellboy, and Firefly. Fans eager to immerse themselves further in the Halo saga will have "Halo: Parasite's Wake" available in just two weeks.
