A new animated short for the My Hero Academia franchise, titled "I Am a Hero Too," is set to officially release on streaming platforms on August 3. This short adapts a bonus chapter from "My Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book," the third and final data book for the series.

The anime adaptation "More," which served as a second ending for the series, jumped ahead eight years to depict the adult lives of various characters, offering an optimistic view of the peace achieved through sacrifice. "I Am a Hero Too," however, focuses on Eri, a character introduced in the fourth season of the anime. Eri, whose Quirk "Rewind" allows her to reverse a living being's body to a previous state, was subjected to experimentation by Overhaul before being rescued by Izuku Midoriya and Mirio Togata.

Following her rescue, Eri was taken under the protection of U.A. High School, where she began to learn control over her powerful ability and experience a more stable life. The "I Am a Hero Too" short depicts Eri as a high school student with aspirations of becoming a musician. Under the mentorship of Kyoka Jiro, Eri invites the heroes who aided her to her debut street performance.

While not intended to provide extensive details about Eri's future, the short aims to offer emotional closure for a character who significantly impacted Deku and his friends. The source material for "I Am a Hero Too" is brief, described as only about five pages long, serving as a short yet meaningful glimpse into the normalcy Eri was denied for much of her life. The short is positioned as an affirmation of Eri's autonomy and an opportunity for her to acknowledge "Hero Too," a song performed by Class 1-A students during the U.A. School Festival Arc. It also allows Eri to express gratitude to those who helped her achieve her dreams, highlighting her personal growth since her initial introduction.
