Plague Tale fans are cautioned about potential spoilers as the upcoming game, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, has reportedly been cracked and distributed online a week prior to its official launch. News of a pirated PC version first surfaced on the Plague Tale subreddit, where moderators are actively working to remove any leaked information, screenshots, or videos.

Moderators have escalated their stance, stating that any further posts related to the leaks or requests for information derived from them will result in a permanent ban, with the possibility of locking down the subreddit for a week if the issue persists. Asobo has been contacted for comment.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is scheduled for release on August 27th. This installment signifies a notable shift for the series, introducing a new protagonist and core gameplay mechanics. Amicia and Hugo, the central figures of the previous games, will be succeeded by Sophia, a character previously introduced in A Plague Tale: Requiem. The narrative focuses on Sophia's connection to the Macula, the mysterious rat plague, in events that precede the original Plague Tale game by 15 years. The story will also explore a parallel timeline involving Theseus and the Minotaur.

Contrary to the stealth-focused gameplay of its predecessors, Resonance emphasizes more direct combat. Sophia engages enemies using a variety of collected blades and their associated moves, and can also attack from a distance. The game also features challenging light-based puzzles, alongside the series' signature cinematic presentation. Initial impressions of Resonance's combat mechanics have been positive.
