A new report indicates that Naughty Dog is developing a brand-new Uncharted game, which will feature Nathan Drake in some capacity. The project is reportedly helmed by Shaun Escayg, who previously directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
This unannounced Uncharted title is not a remake and is said to be Naughty Dog's next game following the studio's upcoming sci-fi project, Intergalactic. Naughty Dog confirmed it plans to reveal more about Intergalactic in 2027. Escayg has previously hinted at the project on social media, posting about "research" in Trinidad and sharing an image of an antique cannon, which MP1st noted could be a clue to the game's setting.
While the exact role Nathan Drake will play in the new game remains unclear, possibilities range from a lead role to a supporting appearance or even a cameo. Uncharted 4 concluded Drake's story, but the character survived, leaving the door open for further adventures. Fans have speculated that his daughter, Cassie, who showed interest in his adventuring pursuits, might also feature prominently.
The report also touches on Naughty Dog's other ongoing projects, including multiple Last of Us titles. Series creator Neil Druckmann has kept the specifics of these projects under wraps, leaving open the possibility of games, shows, films, or books, though a new game is a strong possibility given the studio's focus.
