Nintendo has announced new amiibo figurines for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, set to launch on November 5 for Nintendo Switch. The figures depict young Link and young Zelda, featuring detailed designs with Link gazing at Navi and Zelda seated with her Ocarina. These amiibo are slated for release in 2027.
Scanning these amiibo within the game will grant players cosmetic rewards in the form of masks. These masks are modeled after the original, low-polygon N64 versions of Link and Zelda, resulting in a particularly unsettling appearance when worn by the remake's modern character models. The in-game models for these masks present a stark contrast to the game's updated visuals, with Link's N64-era face appearing particularly harrowing when superimposed on his new body.
Amiibo figures typically offer cosmetic items or gameplay shortcuts, and these masks are expected to fall into the cosmetic category with little impact on core gameplay. However, there is speculation that wearing the masks might trigger unique NPC dialogue or potentially appear in cutscenes, though this has not been confirmed. The community is already anticipating players attempting to complete the game while wearing these distinctive masks.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will also be accompanied by a special edition Nintendo Switch console and a Pro Controller, both themed around the game.
