Nintendo Boss Addresses Possibility of GTA 6 on Switch 2

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard has commented on the potential for Grand Theft Auto 6 to be released on the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2, stating that such decisions rest with Take-Two and Rockstar Games. "That's going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time," Pritchard told Variety.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. As is typical with Rockstar Games' titles, a PC version is expected later, but there has been speculation about its potential availability on the Nintendo Switch 2, given its anticipated graphical improvements.

Pritchard expressed optimism about the Switch 2's capabilities, noting that the company is "just at the beginning of seeing what the Nintendo Switch 2 can do." He hopes the console's enhanced performance will attract more third-party AAA releases and broaden the system's appeal beyond family-friendly titles. The upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on the console, marking the franchise's return to Nintendo platforms after over a decade, was cited as an example of this expanded third-party support.

Elsewhere, Pritchard discussed Nintendo's plans for the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise. These include a live-action movie set for release on April 30, 2027, a remake of Ocarina of Time later this year, and a limited concert series announced during a dedicated Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct. Nintendo aims for these initiatives to engage both new audiences and long-time fans, with Pritchard emphasizing that any such plans will be "deliberate and thoughtful."
