Nintendo has stated that it does not intend to raise the price of its upcoming Switch 2 console. According to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, the company has secured enough memory components to manufacture sufficient quantities of the device, removing the need for additional price adjustments. This statement comes after Nintendo implemented price increases for the Switch 2 earlier this year, affecting regions including the US, Canada, Japan, and Europe.

The global shortage of memory and storage, driven by AI demand, has previously led other major console manufacturers like Sony and Microsoft to increase prices for their PlayStation and Xbox consoles, respectively. One of Nintendo's long-standing ROM suppliers has also announced its exit from that particular business segment, opting to focus on more profitable areas, though Nintendo has not publicly commented on this development.

Despite these market pressures, Nintendo's Switch 2 hardware sales have seen a decline in recent quarters compared to its initial strong launch in 2025. However, overall sales figures for the Switch 2 are reportedly still tracking ahead of its predecessor, the original Switch.
