Nintendo's Indie World Showcase Highlights Diverse Switch Titles

Nintendo recently hosted an Indie World showcase, revealing a slate of independent games slated for release on the Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. The presentation, while concise, featured a wide array of titles spanning multiple genres.

Among the announced games is Witchbrook, a magical town-building social simulation game set to launch on January 28. Following a fantasy theme, Winds of Viridia was also presented; this action survival game promises a vast, seamless world for players to explore and survive. A demo for Winds of Viridia is available, with the full release planned for early next year.

City of None, a new puzzle-platformer from a co-creator of Celeste, is scheduled to arrive on Switch and Switch 2 next year. The spiritual successor to Journey, titled Sword of the Sea, received a trailer showcasing its desert environments and is set to release tomorrow, October 29.

Deepnight Games, led by the lead designer of Dead Cells, unveiled Tenjutsu. This roguelike brawler draws inspiration from classic anime aesthetics and is expected on Switch 2 next year. For players seeking a more strategic experience, Threads of Time offers a design reminiscent of SNES-era Final Fantasy titles and is slated for release next summer on Switch and Switch 2.

Dumpster Gang, a co-op experience for up to four players, casts players as raccoons navigating urban environments while avoiding animal control, launching on Switch 2 in March. In contrast, Super Battle Golf offers a more chaotic take on the sport, allowing up to eight players to engage in matches utilizing unconventional tools like rocket launchers and motorcycles, with a release date of March 25 on Switch 2.

The horror genre will be represented by R.E.P.O., a co-op game where players extract items from procedurally generated haunted houses, coming to Switch 2 next year. Similarly, Haunted Paws is a co-op title for Switch and Switch 2 where players, as puppies, must solve puzzles and evade enemies to rescue someone from a haunted mansion. A demo for Haunted Paws is currently available on the eShop.

Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino, an adventure game set in a fantastical Japan, is planned for Switch 2 release next spring. For a lighter tone, Slime Rancher 2, a puzzle shooter, will arrive on Switch 2 in January. Spirit Crossing, an MMO life simulation from the creators of Cozy Grove, is set to launch on November 16 as a console exclusive for Switch and Switch 2, allowing players to collaborate on building homes and communities.

My Arms Are Longer Now, a humorous puzzler featuring an absurdly long arm, is coming to Switch and Switch 2 on March 11. Petal Runner, a Game Boy-inspired retro RPG exploring themes of "life and loss," will be released on Switch 2 on March 8, with a demo available now. Raccoin: Chaos Max Edition, an updated version of the "coin pusher roguelike," is set to launch on Switch 2 on November 10 and supports mouse controls. A demo for this title is also available today.

The showcase concluded with a montage of additional indie titles: Tanuki: Pon’s Summer and Lost and Found Co. are launching November 10 and early 2027, respectively. Finding Polka and Floor Plan: Slap Out of It! are both slated for release next spring. Bao Bao’s Cozy Cleaning Services is available now, and Everything Is Crab will launch on January 26. HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is also scheduled for early 2027.
