Nintendo has announced that the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 console will increase in the United Kingdom starting September 1. The console's price will rise from £395.99 to £419.99, a jump of £24, approximately $33 USD.

This adjustment follows earlier announcements of price increases in the United States, Canada, and mainland Europe. In the U.S., the Switch 2 will see a $50 increase to $499.99, while in Canada it will cost $50 more, reaching $679.99. European consumers in the Eurozone will face a €30 price increase, bringing the console to €499.99. The price of the Switch 2 has already been adjusted in Japan.

This price change affects all regions outside of Japan, giving consumers a limited window to purchase the console at its current launch price. Nintendo first revealed its intention to increase Switch 2 prices in May, providing several months of notice to customers.

At the time of the initial announcement, Nintendo apologized for the necessary price adjustment, citing "market conditions" and the "global business outlook." This move aligns with broader industry trends, as PlayStation, Xbox, and Valve have also implemented price increases on their hardware amidst global supply chain uncertainties, tariffs, and rising component costs.

Despite the impending price rise, the Switch 2 continues to offer a strong library of exclusive titles, including "Donkey Kong Bananza," "Pokémon Pokopia," and the recently released "Splatoon Raiders." Future exclusive releases such as "Pokémon Winds and Waves" in 2026 and "Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave" on September 17, "Switch Sports Resort" on October 22, and a remake of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" before the end of this year are also anticipated.

Looking further ahead, 2027 titles announced include "Xenoblade Genesis," "Pokémon Winds," and "Pokémon Waves." The Switch 2 also maintains backward compatibility with the extensive Nintendo Switch game catalog.
