Nintendo is set to increase the price of its Switch 2 hybrid console by $50, effective September 1. The current Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $450 will rise to $500. This price adjustment comes amid rising component costs, a market force that has affected other hardware manufacturers.
Previously, consumers had a variety of purchasing options for the Switch 2, including standalone units and several bundles featuring first-party games. However, as the price increase approaches, these bundles have been removed from most retailers. Currently, the primary options for acquiring a new Switch 2 are purchasing a new unit or a refurbished model.
New Switch 2 consoles can be found at standard retail outlets. Refurbished units are also available, with Woot offering a "Grade A" refurbished model for $399.99. This represents a $50 saving compared to the current price of a new console for those open to refurbished hardware. Woot is an Amazon-owned retailer.
Following the price hike, Nintendo plans to introduce two new Switch 2 bundles. The first, including a copy of Mario Kart World, is slated for release in late September at a price of $549.99. A second bundle featuring Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will be available October 22, coinciding with the game's release, at a cost of $529.99. Both new bundles will include three months of Nintendo Switch Online and offer a small discount compared to purchasing the components separately. However, the savings provided by these bundles are capped at $50, making the pre-price hike purchase the most economically favorable option.
