Nintendo Switch Online Adds Three Game Boy Advance Classics

Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers now have three new Game Boy Advance titles to play as of October 14. The additions include the creature-raising simulation Monster Rancher Advance, the action-packed Metal Slug Advance, and the puzzle game Kururin Paradise, which marks its first release in the United States.

These three games join the Game Boy Advance library on the Nintendo Switch Online service. Access to these titles requires the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscription.

Mentioned by Polygon as a "perfect 20-hour game" for players to enjoy while awaiting new releases, Monster Rancher Advance originally launched in 2001. In this title, players assume the role of a breeder tasked with raising and training monsters for battle. The game features over 400 collectible monsters, each with unique skills, moves, strengths, and weaknesses, requiring strategic gameplay to achieve victory. Its collection mechanics and monster battling bear some resemblance to the Pokémon series.

For those seeking fast-paced side-scrolling action, Metal Slug Advance offers an experience that can be completed in one to two hours. This title is presented as a fitting addition for fans anticipating the franchise's 30th anniversary and the upcoming Mega Slug Ultimate Collection.

Kururin Paradise, a sequel to Kuru Kuru Kururin, is the most obscure of the new additions, making its United States debut over 20 years after its initial showing at E3 2002. Originally expected to release in the US in the same year it was showcased, the game, like its predecessor, never made it to North American shores until now through the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.
