Nintendo has announced a surprise Indie World Showcase, scheduled for October 28. The digital event will offer approximately 15 minutes of content focused on new announcements and updates for games heading to Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
The showcase is set to begin at 7:00 AM PDT and will be available to watch on Nintendo's official YouTube channel.
This marks the first Indie World Showcase since March, which featured titles such as Denshattack! and the shadow-dropped roguelite puzzler Blue Prince for Switch 2. While larger Nintendo Direct presentations have occurred throughout the year, this dedicated showcase highlights the company's continued support for independent developers.
What to Expect
Given that this is an indie-focused event, announcements will primarily feature titles from Nintendo's third-party partners. Players should anticipate news on smaller games releasing in the coming months, rather than major first-party franchises like Mario or Zelda, unless they appear in crossover titles.
One highly anticipated prospect is an update on Team Cherry's expansion for Hollow Knight, titled Sea of Sorrow. Originally slated for a 2026 release, it is possible the expansion could be shadow-dropped during the showcase or receive a definitive release date announcement.
