The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11, Bethesda confirmed via a new trailer. The announcement showcased a live-action Adoring Fan, but offered minimal gameplay footage. This upcoming release has sparked renewed hope among PC players for a concurrent update to address lingering issues in the PC version of the remaster.

Since its initial release, Oblivion Remastered on PC has received a few patches that fixed notable bugs, such as the problematic Khajiit tails and a lore-breaking door in the Dark Brotherhood questline. However, the game still suffers from performance hitches during exploration and visual anomalies like dark lines appearing on characters' eyelids during blinks. A comprehensive list of these remaining issues can be found on the UESP wiki.

Some bugs present in the original release, like an NPC’s voice changing mid-dialogue, have yet to be rectified in the remaster, even as other NPCs have been revoiced. It remains unclear whether these oversights are intentional for comedic effect or simply overlooked. After approximately 60 hours of gameplay in this Bethesda RPG, these persistent issues become increasingly noticeable.

The Switch 2 version is expected to incorporate motion controls and touchscreen functionality, and will reportedly include the full game on its cartridge. In contrast, the PC version of Oblivion Remastered is currently considered less polished than modded versions of the original game, particularly for players using devices like the Steam Deck.
