Oded Fehr Jokes The Mummy 3 Doesn't Exist Amidst The Mummy 4 Production

As production ramps up for The Mummy 4, slated for an October 15, 2027 release, Oded Fehr, who is returning as Ardeth Bay, has humorously suggested that only two films in the franchise were ever made.

During a joint interview at Comic Con Holland with John Hannah, who is reprising his role as Jonathan Carnahan, Fehr reflected on his experience filming the original movies. "The Mummy, The Mummy Returns – there wasn’t a third one – but the two movies were so… seriously, it was just fun," Fehr stated. Hannah, however, playfully countered by holding up three fingers and mouthing that a third film did exist.

Fehr's quip touches upon a sentiment held by many fans regarding The Mummy franchise. The third installment, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, is often considered divisive, particularly due to the absence of Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O'Connell. Many fans have expressed a desire to consider the events of that film non-canonical. The directors of The Mummy 4, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, have previously indicated that the new film would not consider Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as part of its continuity, citing Weisz's return as a key factor.

Fehr did not appear in The Mummy 3, which may contribute to his dismissive stance. Hannah, having featured in all three films, appeared to defend the third entry during the interview. While details about The Mummy 4 remain scarce, including its final title, set photos have shown Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in character, hinting at a 1950s post-war Britain setting.
