Palworld Developer Still Interested in Switch 2 Port Amidst Nintendo Legal Battle

Despite facing legal action from Nintendo over alleged patent infringement, Palworld developer Pocketpair remains hopeful about releasing the game on the upcoming Switch 2 console. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe expressed enthusiasm for the platform, calling it "a really amazing platform" and stating the company would welcome discussions about bringing Palworld to it.

Mizobe previously indicated that a version for the original Nintendo Switch would be challenging due to the game's demanding nature. However, he suggested that the Switch 2, with potentially more powerful hardware, might be capable of running the title. Pocketpair's communications director John Buckley also commented that a Switch 2 port was worth considering if the console could handle the game's performance requirements.

Any potential release on the Switch 2 is contingent on the resolution of the ongoing legal dispute between Pocketpair and Nintendo. An update on the lawsuit is anticipated soon, with the Tokyo District Court expected to issue a preliminary decision on November 9.

Palworld has achieved significant commercial success since its 2024 launch, selling over 30 million copies. Its recent 1.0 update in July also saw nearly 1 million concurrent players on Steam, highlighting the game's strong player engagement.
