Palworld has officially transitioned out of early access with its version 1.0 release, introducing a wealth of new content and significant improvements. Developed by Pocketpair, the game now features expanded areas, new Pals, enhanced world mechanics, and a more cohesive narrative.
New Environments and Exploration
The update adds Sunreach, a new archipelago of islands suspended in the sky by Paldium. These islands host new Pals, tower bosses, and unique ores. The World Tree, a central element to Palworld's story, is now accessible, presenting players with new challenges. Throughout Palpagos, players can discover Ancient Ruins which offer rewards like schematics for completing minigames and exploration challenges. Watchtowers have also been scattered across the map, serving as new fast travel points and revealing surrounding areas. Seven small islands, each with distinct biomes like volcano, desert, and ruins, now feature unique Pals. New settlements have been added to various regions, including Bamboo Groves, Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima, and Sunreach, each with new NPCs and missions. Additionally, new enemy bases have appeared at sea, offering combat encounters during exploration.
Wildlife Sanctuaries, formerly known as small islands, have been re-envisioned as protected conservation areas. These three sanctuaries offer distinct environments, unique Pals, rare materials, and powerful bosses, guarded by defense drones. The placement and spawn levels of Pals across Palpagos have been rebalanced, with Pals now appearing in environments better suited to their typing. The player level cap has been raised from 65 to 80, with new technologies available at each level. Minor improvements include the renaming of Lifmunk Effigies to Pal Effigies with a new collection animation, rebalanced treasure chests and item drops, and improved dungeon layouts and lighting. Dungeon entrances are now more clearly indicated, with 15 new dungeons added throughout Feybreak. Players can now earn exploration experience for clearing dungeons and enemy bases. The number and positions of land-based enemy bases have been adjusted, and cleared towers now display a different color on the map. Predator Pals no longer have fixed spawn locations but appear at a low rate across the entire map. The Free Pal Alliance tower has been relocated, and the Great Eagle Statue has been removed from tower bosses to improve map visibility. Junk and salvage targets are easier to find, bounty target sizes now match regular NPCs, and respawn point descriptions have been updated. Some island names have also been changed for clarity.
Story and Mission Reworks
The main story has undergone a significant overhaul, providing a more authentic journey through Palpagos with clearer goals. New sub-missions, NPCs, and journals have been added to flesh out the lore of Palworld. Mission displays have been improved, and NPC mission rewards are now consistently accurate. Main and sub-mission progress has been reset for all players.
Pal Enhancements and Mechanics
Palworld 1.0 introduces 72 new Pals, comprised of 47 entirely new creatures and 25 variants, many of which can be found in Sunreach and around the World Tree. A new 'Awakening' mechanic allows players to strengthen their Pals using Radiant Gems found in the World Tree. 'Mutation' offers a low chance for breeding to produce Pals with higher stats and unique passive skills. New cakes, such as the Mushroom Cake, Vegetable Cake, Deluxe Vegetable Cake, and Special Cake, offer various breeding bonuses, including increased stats, multiple eggs, enhanced mutation chances, and improved passive skill inheritance. Partner Skills have been reworked with new additions, some allowing Pals to detect Pal Effigies or boost weapon damage, though these skills do not stack beyond their cap. New passive skills have been added, including powerful but costly World Tree passives that offer significant buffs at the expense of drawbacks, such as increased attack coupled with decreased defense.
Pals now exhibit more dynamic behaviors, including swimming, sleeping beside the player, and more varied idle animations, enhancing their perceived personalities. Riding mechanics have been improved with better controls for shooting, dashing, weapon switching, and camera angles, resulting in a more dynamic sense of speed. Players can now cancel Pal skills while riding by jumping. Work Suitability has been expanded to 10 levels, rebalanced to provide more opportunities to find Pals suited for specific tasks. Each Pal level-up increases work suitability, with maximum rank boosting all levels. The Applied Ranching Handbook can further enhance ranching suitability. The number of captures required for a capture bonus has been reduced from 12 to five, and the number of Pals needed for maximum rank condensation has been lowered from 116 to 48. Party Pals now stop and face the player when idle, and inherited active skills are now randomly selected from parent Pals' three active skill slots. The cost for resetting Pal soul enhancements has been reduced, and egg incubation time has been halved on new normal and hard difficulty worlds. The elemental damage bonuses for several Pal skills have been increased, and certain passive skills have been enhanced or renamed. Players can now choose any fast-travel location upon respawning, Pal Merchant and Black Marketeer stock now reflects their region, and pricing has been adjusted. Pals will no longer lose SAN from damage, and negative status effects from hunger and fractures have been reduced.
Combat Overhaul
The player's dodge action has been reworked for better maneuverability and aim maintenance. Attacks can now be performed while dashing, and reloading is no longer interrupted by dodging. Pal active skills have seen adjustments to power, behavior, cooldowns, and usability, with specific skills like Holy Burst and Dragon Meteor being rebalanced or improved. New active skills have been added for both new and existing Pals. Players can now command Pals to attack specific enemies by pressing the mouse wheel or right thumbstick. Each tower boss now features a revamped tower with unique designs, new motions, and skills, and the time limit for these encounters has been reduced to five minutes. Wild Pals exhibit improved combat behaviors, such as dog-type Pals biting and horse-type Pals repeatedly charging. Party Pals more easily target nearby enemies and move faster in combat, while armor is less prone to breaking. Captured NPCs can use their original weapons. Status effects like Muddy and Burn have shortened durations when dodging. Players can now cancel bow aiming with the reload button and use fire and poison arrows with compatible weapons. Some active skill charge times have been extended for better dodging, and hit detection for melee weapons has been adjusted. Pals and NPCs will no longer target enemies with significantly higher levels. Flinch, knockback, and explosion resistance can now be obtained through cooking. The crime system allows players to clear wanted status by avoiding detection, though higher wanted levels attract stronger pursuers.
New Equipment and Items
The Wing Pack allows for player flight without a Pal by consuming Wing Cells. The Plasma Multicutter provides an efficient method for gathering ore and wood while mounted. Thirteen new weapons have been added, including the Mechanical Bow, Combat SMG, Prototype Shotgun, Heavy Assault Rifle, Tactical Grenade Launcher, Laser Sword, Beam Scatter, Drone Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Beam Launcher, Primitive Sword, Metal Bat, and Enhanced Lily's Spear. An Extra Weapon Holster can be crafted to equip up to six weapons. New armor includes the Ancient Series helm, armor, and shield, along with new headgear that allows players to assume the appearance of bosses. Forty-four new accessories have been introduced, such as the Air Walker and Command Baton. Disposable Implants can be used at an operating table to grant more powerful passive skills. New ores, Soralite and Paloxite, are required for new crafting and building purposes. Ancient Civilization Relics can be converted into items and used for crafting. The Nutrient consumable item negates hunger decrease for a limited time. Two new higher-tier Pal Spheres have been added, and the Training Manual can be crafted from the Ancient Pal Manuscript. Various item displays and effects have been adjusted.

New variations have been added to existing furniture sets, and ancient civilization base structures are now available. Pals now exhibit improved behavior when returning to work, hauling, or storing items, and can collect nearby dropped items of the same type from a wider area. New storage interactions with various containers make organizing more seamless. The crafting UI has been improved with category filters and a search function. New utility buildings like the Ancient Material Synthesizer and High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor provide enhanced crafting capabilities. Players can now fast travel directly from the map within base range, eliminating the need to trek to a fast travel point or interact with the Palbox. The variety of visiting merchants has increased to 18 specialized NPCs. The Repair Kit for structures has been removed, with Pals possessing the Handiwork suitability now able to perform repairs without items. The Clinic and Ancient Clinic facilities help reduce SAN depletion and suppress illness among base Pals. High-Quality Monitoring Stands and Ancient Monitoring Stands reduce SAN depletion for base Pals. Fixed assignments can now be set for sleeping Pals. Lighting structures can have their colors changed, and gold stored in chests is now accounted for when shopping at the base. The Surgery Table can access items stored in chests. Chests feature an auto-deposit option for matching items and a quick storage exclusion list. Storage structures can be painted, chests renamed, and filter settings more easily viewed. Pals now prioritize finishing partially-complete tasks. Ore distribution has been increased, and the amount of Pure Quartz in snowy regions has been raised. Higher-tier gathering tools now improve resource acquisition speed.
Raids and Defense
The raid system has been reworked into a wave-based system where enemies attack in waves, with rewards for clearing all waves. Base defense structures and work Pal placement are now critical. Raid enemy types vary by environment, such as the Free Pal Alliance in Crescent Moon Shore and the Eternal Pyre Faction in Mount Obsidian. Defense structures operate without consuming ammo, and countermeasures are in place for stuck enemies. Raiding enemy levels scale with the assigned work Pals' levels. A special raid event occurs if a Gold Coin Assembly Line is present. A negotiator may visit bases, offering the option to pay gold coins to cancel raids.
Multiplayer and Server Enhancements
Joining friends in multiplayer has been simplified. In-game voice chat is now available when enabled in dedicated server settings. The in-game chat system has been improved with better system messages and increased chat history. Guild features have been expanded with multiple roles and assignable permissions, along with notifications for member logins and logouts, and a guild marker feature. Server improvements include password saving and restoration, IP address input, and enhancements to the save process to reduce corruption risk. Discord integration is available on Steam and Mac, allowing players to invite Discord friends to play together.
