Palworld, the open-world survival game that gained significant popularity following its early access debut in January 2024, will not see a price increase upon its full 1.0 launch. Developer Pocketpair announced on Wednesday that the creature collector will remain priced at $29.99 as a token of appreciation for its player base.
Pocketpair acknowledged the game's unexpected success, stating in a post on X, "We are incredibly proud of how far Palworld has come. Thanks to the amazing support of our players, it has become a success beyond our wildest dreams." The game's Steam page had previously indicated that the price might rise closer to or at the official release.
Despite facing legal challenges from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, which led to adjustments in certain in-game mechanics, Palworld has achieved remarkable player numbers. Pocketpair recently reported that 40 million players have experienced the game. This figure includes players who accessed it through Xbox Game Pass, meaning not all have purchased the title outright, but it still represents a substantial audience for a game that has been available for less than three years.
Version 1.0 of Palworld is scheduled for release on July 10, promising new Pals, expanded explorable areas, and other additions. To coincide with this milestone, Palworld is currently available at a discounted price of $20.99 on Steam, a 30% reduction, valid until July 9 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
