Paramount Pictures has announced a release date for Danny McBride's upcoming G.I. Joe reboot, scheduled to hit theaters on October 20, 2028. The studio has also shifted the release of the next Paranormal Activity film, pushing it back by six months.

McBride, known for his comedy work, will make his feature directorial debut with the G.I. Joe film, which he co-wrote with John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley. Bradley Cooper has been cast as Duke. McBride has described the project as an action-packed, suspenseful film set in Springfield, a town controlled by Cobra.

The next installment in the Paranormal Activity series, originally slated for May 21, 2027, has been rescheduled to October 22, 2028. Ian Tuason is directing, with original director Oren Peli, James Wan, and Jason Blum serving as producers. Tuason aims to recapture the elements that made the early films successful, intending to redefine the found-footage genre.

While few details about the G.I. Joe reboot are available due to its early development stage, Paramount's commitment to an October 2028 release suggests significant anticipation for the franchise's new direction. The delay of Paranormal Activity 8 places it almost exactly one year before the G.I. Joe reboot, offering a horror option for moviegoers in the fall of 2028.
