Paul Bettany Confesses to Leaving 'Avengers: Infinity War' Script on a Plane

Paul Bettany, known for his role as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has admitted to a significant script security breach involving the screenplay for Avengers: Infinity War. Speaking on Virgin Radio, Bettany shared that he once left the entire script for the blockbuster film on an airplane.

"I’ve never told anybody this, but I once left the entire script for Infinity War on a plane," Bettany recounted, prompting a surprised reaction from his VisionQuest co-star Emily Hampshire. He described the moment of realization after disembarking, recalling, "And I was lucky to have had a greeter that was a genius, and I got the greeter to go in and get it. And I tipped that greeter like 500 bucks."

Bettany praised the airport greeter for their assistance, noting their effectiveness in retrieving the misplaced document. This incident highlights Marvel's notoriously strict security protocols for its scripts. Previously, actors from Avengers: Age of Ultron shared that script pages were shredded daily on set to prevent leaks, and scripts were often hand-delivered by security personnel rather than being shared digitally.

In contrast, Hampshire admitted to a less severe lapse with her own script for the Disney+ series VisionQuest, stating she didn't realize the daily scene pages, known as 'sides', were sensitive and may have discarded them. This led to a security team visiting her home to retrieve the documents.

Past instances of MCU actors inadvertently spoiling plot points include Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen, who recounted that actors had to burn their daily sides during the filming of Age of Ultron. At the time, Olsen also emphasized the importance of viewing Marvel films in a cinema, stating, "These films aren't plane movies... they deserve to be seen in a cinema the way it was made."

VisionQuest premiered on October 13.
