The upcoming cosmic horror and penguin waddling simulator, Penguin Colony, has announced its release date with a trailer that playfully satirizes the gaming industry's use of buzzwords. The trailer humorously suggests the game features RTX, is AAA, and incorporates DLSS, alongside fabricated terms like "Real Terror eXploration" and "GENeral Antarctic Isolation."
Despite the initial jest, the game is indeed developed by Origame Digital, the creators of Umurangi Generation, and is slated for release on October 8th. The new trailer showcases a human character navigating a nightmarish Antarctic landscape before the perspective shifts to one of the game's penguins, hinting at the core gameplay.
While the exact role of human characters remains unclear, the game's central premise revolves around playing as penguins. The developers have previously explored weapon mechanics in other projects, suggesting the trailer's more aggressive imagery might be a marketing ploy.
An earlier, playable demo of Penguin Colony was available in June, which was described as a short but intriguing experience that laid the groundwork for a "unique critique of fascist ideology." Players interested in experiencing the game can still access the demo via its Steam page or wishlist the title ahead of its October launch.
