Atlus has announced that Kotone Shiomi, the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable, will be making an appearance in the mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom X. This decision brings a highly requested feature to a modern Persona title, albeit not the one many fans anticipated.
Shiomi's inclusion was confirmed through official Persona 5: The Phantom X channels. While details regarding her availability and the duration of her appearance remain scarce, her arrival marks a significant crossover event. Persona 5: The Phantom X, which launched in June 2025, is a mobile gacha RPG set in the Persona 5 universe but featuring a new cast of characters. The game mirrors the main series' gameplay loop, balancing dungeon exploration with real-world activities, and its gacha mechanics allow players to collect new characters and resources.
Kotone Shiomi was originally introduced in Persona 3 Portable, the 2009 handheld version of the 2006 RPG. Her unique characterization and perspective garnered a dedicated fanbase. The recent remake, Persona 3 Reload, omitted Shiomi, with Atlus initially stating that the remake would only incorporate content from the original Persona 3 release. Although other elements from Persona 3 Portable, such as the Aigis social link and the "The Answer" epilogue via DLC, were included in Reload, the absence of the female protagonist was a notable omission. She will now feature in Persona 5: The Phantom X, which is available on Android, iOS, and Windows PC.
