Atlus has officially announced that both the upcoming remake Persona 4 Revival and the next mainline installment, Persona 6, will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. The news was revealed during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation.
Persona 4 Revival is slated for release on May 20, 2027, for the Switch 2. This date places it three months after its initial launch on other platforms on February 18, 2027. This staggered release is not unprecedented for the series on Nintendo hardware, as Persona 3 Reload arrived on Switch 2 over eighteen months after its original release.
Persona 4 Revival is a modern remake of the 2008 RPG. The game follows a group of students investigating murders and a mysterious phenomenon known as the Midnight Channel in the Japanese countryside. The remake features updated graphics and gameplay improvements while aiming to remain faithful to the original story and character arcs. Atlus has indicated that some narrative nuances will be adjusted to better reflect contemporary societal perspectives, particularly concerning the character Yosuke.
Details regarding Persona 6 remain scarce. The game was first teased in July with a trailer depicting a graveyard scene and a headless statue, suggesting a potentially grittier tone compared to recent entries in the series. Atlus has not yet revealed protagonist information, the game's setting, or a release window. It is anticipated that Atlus will focus more heavily on Persona 6 after the release of Persona 4 Revival next year.
