Atlus has clarified the role of Aika Nakamura, a new character being added to the upcoming remake of the 2008 RPG, Persona 4. While initially described as a full social link, Atlus has corrected this, stating Aika will be a "location-episode character."
The confusion originated from the English version of the second Persona 4 Revival broadcast, which referred to Aika as a new social link. Atlus posted a correction on X, formerly Twitter, specifying that Aika is "indeed a location-episode character and not a social link."
Location episodes in Persona 4 Revival appear to be similar to the linked episodes introduced in Persona 3 Reload. These are new side quests designed to expand the game's world and offer players more insight into specific characters. Characters who are also party members will receive expanded stories through these location episodes.
Aika is the daughter of the owners of a local Chinese restaurant and a classmate of the main cast. Her story will involve players investigating Inaba's past. Although this marks her first in-game appearance, Aika has been referenced in the Persona 4 universe previously. She was first mentioned in Persona 4 Golden in 2012 and has made minor appearances in the anime adaptations, Persona 4 The Animation and The Golden Animation.
Persona 4 Revival is scheduled for release on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is planned for release on May 20, 2027.
