Atlus has confirmed Daman Mills as the new voice actor for Kanji Tatsumi in the upcoming Persona 4 Revival. Mills, recognized for his portrayal of Frieza in the Dragon Ball franchise, will take on the role previously performed by Troy Baker and Matt Mercer.

Mills brings a wealth of experience to the character, having lent his voice to numerous titles including Borderlands 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Yakuza Kiwami 3. His prior work with Atlus includes roles in Shin Megami Tensei 5, Soul Hackers 2, Persona 3 Reload, and Unicorn Overlord. This casting continues Atlus's approach of recasting all roles for the Persona 4 remake.

Kanji Tatsumi is a pivotal character in Persona 4, notable for his exploration of gender identity within the narrative. Mills expressed his admiration for the character during a PAX West panel, noting Kanji's blend of masculinity and femininity, and the insecurities that arise from it. He highlighted the character's journey of growth and self-acceptance as a significant aspect of the story. The remake aims to address how other characters interact with Kanji, making the portrayal more fitting for contemporary audiences.

Mills stated, "While he has a more masculine-leaning approach with, like, his whole identity, he also has some femininity to him as well that I really like and admire. Though, I think for Kanji, it leads to some insecurities overall within the story, and for him, it makes him a little bit afraid because it's not necessarily a social norm. But we gradually see him sort of progress through that within the story and sort of face those trials and growth, and it has just been such an incredible thing to experience, and I really enjoy the character very much."

Persona 4 Revival is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 18, 2027. The game will be available on Game Pass from its launch day.
