Fans hoping for the addition of a previously cut romance option between protagonist Yu Narukami and Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4 Revival will be disappointed, as Atlus has confirmed the feature will not be implemented. Producer Kazuhisa Wada explained that the decision was made due to the extensive work required to offer similar options for all male characters.

Wada stated that while the development team was aware of the desire for Yosuke's romance, the prospect of implementing it alongside romance options for every other male character presented a considerable content addition. "If we do Yosuke we kind of have to do it for all the guys. And if we did all the guys, that would be so much additional content that would be a lot of work. We gotta keep things fair, right?" Wada remarked during an interview at Gamescom 2026. "So we ended up being like 'Ah, this might be a little bit much, so I think we're gonna have to pass.'"

The potential for Yosuke's romance was present in the original Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden, with both English and Japanese dialogue hinting at a planned romantic storyline that never materialized. The announcement of Persona 4 Revival had reignited speculation among fans about its inclusion.

Art director Akane Kabayashi also confirmed that if romance options were to be extended to all male characters, even the mascot character Teddie would be included in that consideration. "Does Teddie count as the guy? Yes, of course he does," Kabayashi stated.

While some observers have suggested that implementing Yosuke's romance could add depth to his character, particularly in light of his often homophobic remarks in the original game, Atlus has opted against it to manage development scope. It is expected that some of Yosuke's more controversial dialogue may be adjusted in Revival, though the game's developers have not elaborated on the specifics of these changes.
