Sega has confirmed that Persona 6 will receive a physical release on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This update follows a recent Nintendo Direct presentation that showcased the title for the new console.
Initially, Sega's official website indicated that the physical edition of Persona 6 would be exclusive to the PlayStation 5. This information has since been removed, with the Switch 2 now listed alongside the PS5 as a platform for physical copies. The current platform information on Sega's Japanese website explicitly states that physical editions will be available for both PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.
The confirmation offers a potential relief for collectors and players who prefer physical media on Nintendo's platform. While the status of a physical release for the Xbox platform remains unconfirmed, the inclusion of the Switch 2 suggests a continued market for physical game sales, a segment where Nintendo continues to see considerable profits.
It remains to be seen whether a physical edition will eventually be released for Xbox consoles in other regions. Given the lower popularity of Xbox in Japan, it is plausible that a physical release for the Series X might be skipped in that territory, leaving the door open for international markets to receive one.
