Producer Wada Kazuhisa has stated that remaking the first two Persona games is something Atlus "has to do eventually." While no concrete plans are currently in place, Kazuhisa conveyed this sentiment in an interview with Gamerbraves, suggesting a commitment to revisiting the series' origins.

Speaking about the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, Kazuhisa detailed how the remake will offer a more cinematic experience compared to the original 2008 release. Atlus is leveraging new tools to create more immersive and realistic cutscenes, a departure from the original's static conversations. He also reassured fans that character personalities and storylines will remain faithful, with no "nerfing" of established traits.

Atlus has recently focused on updating older titles in the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona franchises for modern platforms. With Persona 4 Revival scheduled for release and Persona 6 in development, the prospect of remaking Persona 1 and Persona 2 aligns with this trend. Both games are over two decades old, with Persona 1, originally released as Revelations: Persona, approaching its 30th anniversary. Existing re-releases are PSP ports from approximately 15 years ago. Many fans were introduced to the series with Persona 3, 4, or 5, and a remake would offer them a chance to experience the franchise's foundational narrative, often summarized by the phrase "I am thou, thou art I."
