Kinetic Games, the development studio best known for the cooperative ghost-hunting phenomenon Phasmophobia, has announced its expansion into game publishing. The new venture, Kinetic Publishing, will support a varied lineup of five newly revealed titles, ranging from horror and cozy life sims to racing and metroidvania experiences.

Precognition

Among the announced titles is Precognition, the latest project from Sam Barlow's Half Mermaid studio, creators of acclaimed FMV games like Immortality and Her Story. Previously known by its working title Project C, the game is a collaboration with filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg. Precognition centers on Diana, a protagonist who gains the ability to see the future after an experimental brain implant. Players will navigate non-linear storytelling by committing visions to Diana's memory, altering the narrative's course. The game is slated for a Spring 2028 release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.

Aether Wizard Life

Fans of cozy life simulation games such as Spiritfarer and Stardew Valley can look forward to Aether Wizard Life from Vonder Games. This title allows players to create and manage their own mage, living in a customizable castle. The gameplay loop includes tending to animals, cooking, farming, and various jobs in towns, all while uncovering a story involving a secret organization threatening mages. The game will feature romanceable characters, a multitude of activities, and over 30 skills to learn. Aether Wizard Life is scheduled for a Fall 2028 release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.

Shellbound

Developed by Fake Lobster, Shellbound is a metroidvania that reimagines the genre by setting its world on the back of a colossal snail, with its internal organs forming the explorable map. The game aims to deviate from typical metroidvania staples like backtracking and gated progression. Through a mechanic called "parasitizing," players can absorb abilities from enemies and flora, allowing access to most areas with the understanding of potential consequences. This system encourages players to intentionally challenge the game's design, potentially offering a unique experience for speedrunners. Shellbound is expected to launch in Summer 2028 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.

Contact Protocol

Cold Zephyr Games is developing Contact Protocol, a game described as "Papers, Please in space." Players assume the role of a starship captain navigating interstellar traffic, where distinguishing between legitimate travelers, corporate spies, and smugglers is paramount. The game emphasizes paranoia and distrust in a world rife with disinformation. Players must use dialogue and decision-making to de-escalate tense encounters or choose to destroy other vessels, facing the consequences of their actions. Contact Protocol is set to release in Spring 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.

Crescent County

Rounding out the publishing lineup is Crescent County from Electric Saint. This title blends racing and exploration, where players control Lu, a witch who navigates the crescent-shaped island of Mor on a motorbroom. The game involves daytime package deliveries and nighttime races, set in a world inspired by the films Kiki's Delivery Service and Akira. Crescent County features a vibrant aesthetic, an energetic punk-inspired soundtrack, and a narrative described as being about "kissing, drifting, and being a mess in your 20s." It is scheduled to debut in Summer 2027 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
