During a Fourth of July celebration, a firework designed to resemble Pikachu, albeit under the name "Peek-a-boom," provided an unexpected spectacle. The novelty item, found at temporary firework stands, initially drew skepticism due to its uninspired label which only stated it would "spin on ground" and "emit showers of sparks."

As the evening progressed and other fireworks were set off, the "Pikachu" firework was saved for last. For its initial moments, it failed to impress, leading to concerns it was a poor-quality fountain. However, towards the end of its display, the firework reportedly became significantly more impressive, emitting sparks from multiple points, including its ears, and spinning vigorously on the ground. The display was so energetic that there was a brief worry it might ignite nearby garden plants.

After the pyrotechnics concluded, the firework was placed in the street to cool off. It then endured a second, entirely unplanned event when an SUV reportedly struck it. According to the account, the "Pikachu" firework survived this impact as well, adding an anticlimactic postscript to its eventful night.
